About WhiskerWisp
WhiskerWisp is a free library of dog and cat breed profiles and practical pet-care guides. It is written for people who are thinking about bringing a pet home, and for owners who want straightforward answers about everyday care.
Choosing a breed is a decision you live with for ten to twenty years. Breed descriptions elsewhere often focus on looks and the most flattering traits. We try to describe what daily life with each breed is actually like — how much exercise and grooming it needs, how it tends to behave, which health problems are common, and which homes suit it best — so you can make that decision with clear eyes.
What you will find here
- Breed profiles for 18 dog breeds and 12 cat breeds, covering temperament, exercise, grooming, training, feeding, health, history, and who each breed suits.
- Care Guides — 54 in-depth articles on topics such as the first weeks with a new pet, behaviour, nutrition, safety, and knowing when to call the vet.
- A daily care tip on the home page.
How we write
Our content is based on widely accepted guidance from veterinary associations, kennel and cat fancy clubs, and animal welfare organisations. We describe general tendencies, not guarantees: every animal is an individual, and upbringing, training, and health matter as much as breed. You can read more in our editorial standards.
WhiskerWisp is not a veterinary practice, and nothing on this site replaces advice from a qualified veterinarian who has examined your animal. If you are worried about your pet, contact your vet.
