Bringing home a rescue dog is exciting, and it is natural to want to show them the world straight away. But for the dog, everything is new: people, sounds, smells, and routines.

Many shelters describe a "3-3-3" pattern: three days to decompress, three weeks to learn the routine, and three months to feel at home. Every dog is different, but patience in the first month builds the foundation for everything that follows.
